About

To convey the emotion of facial expressions always fascinated Mira Sasson.  Indeed, portrait paintings are a thread throughout her work, whether in oil on canvas or with nails on wooden boards. Sasson was born into a large ultra-Orthodox family. She spent my childhood in Bnei Brak, in the center of Israel where she studied in religious schools. Painting served as an escape for her. Sasson’s older sisters began painting long before her and influenced her desire. In order to find her place in such a large family, painting became her passion.  From pencils to oils she began my journey as an artist. Sasson’s subjects came directly from my religious and ultra-Orthodox background and dealt with the concept of “free choice” and its opposite. Her criticism of blind faith is woven as a web of clues throughout her work.
